Eliminating sounds from aluminum heat transfer plates


It's a good practice to minimize situations where nails for hardwood flooring are driven through heat transfer plates, says PM Hydronics Editor John Siegenthaler. By installing 6" wide, single-tube plates on 8" spacing, you create a 2" gap between plates, as shown in this picture from Harvey Youker. This allows two nails to be located every 8" along the edge of hardwood flooring without shooting nails through the plates.
